O-ring for cylinder head, 125 x 3.5 mm Inner diameter: 125 mm Thickness: 3.5 mm Temperature range: -30°C to 100°C  NBR = (acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber—also known as nitrile rubber) is a standard material for O-rings, with a wide range of applications in a temperature range between -30°C and 100°C. Trade names for NBR O-rings: e.g., Perbunan*, Nitril Properties of NBR O-rings: Our NBR O-rings are made of a synthetic rubber with excellent resistance to mineral oil-based oils and greases, hydraulic oils (H, H-L, H-LP), silicone (oils and greases), hydraulic fluids (HFA, HFB, HFC), as well as aliphatic hydrocarbons, air, and water. For other oils and fuels, we recommend testing the resistance of the NBR O-ring. Good physical properties such as high abrasion resistance and durability, along with good temperature resistance, allow for a wide range of applications for NBR O-rings. The resistance of NBR O-rings to aging, weathering, and ozone is rather low, but this is irrelevant for many applications as long as the material is surrounded by a medium (e.g., oil). NBR O-rings are not resistant to hydraulic fluids (HFD), glycols (brake fluids), aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, polar solvents, and fuels with a high aromatic content. When selecting the right material for our NBR O-rings, factors such as the medium, the expected pressure acting on the O-ring, the temperature range for the O-ring’s application, the gap width, the surface quality of the installation space for the O-ring, and the type of application (static or dynamic) are all decisive.
