Which axle for which track?

Axle hardness controls how the chassis works on the rear wheels. Soft axle (H) = more grip in cold conditions and on low-grip tracks. Medium axle (M) = universal setup, most drivers start here. Hard axle (S) = higher grip in hot conditions and on rubber-covered tracks. Diameter (25/30/40/50 mm) is determined by chassis model.

Seat size follows body weight and hip width: Tillett T11 / Righetti / Greyhound come in sizes S1–S5. Rule of thumb: seat should support the hips firmly without pinching. A too-small seat causes cramp on long stints; too big robs feedback from the chassis. Ideally sit in the seat before buying — we advise by phone.

Which steering wheel — round, flat-bottom or D-shape?

Round steering wheels are the classic choice — good for beginners and long stints. Flat-bottom offers more knee clearance for tall drivers. D-shape is popular in KZ shifter (better clutch/gear-lever access). Diameter typically 320–340 mm; smaller = more direct, larger = more leverage.

How often should I check the karting chassis for cracks?

Before every race weekend visually inspect the frame — especially around seat mounts, front stub axles, engine mount and rear bearing brackets. Small hairline cracks in the frame are early warning signs; if in doubt, penetrant testing. Frame lifetime under regular racing conditions: 1–2 seasons before it loses stiffness.

Which steering column / tie rod for my chassis?

Steering column and tie rods are chassis-specific — OTK, CRG, Birel ART all have their own dimensions. When replacing: same length, same material (aluminium standard, steel for KZ shifters). Bent tie rods must always be replaced, never straightened — the material has micro-cracks.
