The U-shaped notched ground electrode concentrates spark formation, resulting in a stronger spark while requiring less current. Additional benefits include easier starting, better acceleration, and lower fuel consumption. The extremely high melting point of iridium (2500°C) ensures a long service life. The built-in 5 kΩ monolithic resistor provides spark suppression. The DENSO IW 27 spark plug is designed for use at temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C.
