Which brake pads fit my chassis?

Karting brake pads are chassis-specific: OTK (Tony Kart, Exprit, Kosmic) uses BS5/BS6/BS7 calipers, CRG uses V05/V09/V11, Birel ART and other chassis brands have their own systems. Order by chassis model and caliper version. If in doubt, call us with the chassis year and caliper marking.

How often do karting brake pads need to be replaced?

Brake pads should be checked before every race weekend. Rear pads typically last 3–6 race weekends depending on driver, track and compound. Replace when pad material is under 3 mm or if the pad is glazed. Front pads (only shifter/KZ) last significantly longer.

What is the difference between Race and Standard brake compound?

Race compound has higher friction at operating temperature but requires warm-up laps to reach it. Standard compound bites immediately from cold and is the better choice for sprint races, rental karts and drivers who do not do warm-up laps. Race compound is only worth it if you consistently run several hot laps.

Front brake yes or no?

For KF and OK class the front brake is prohibited. For KZ shifter karts the front brake is standard equipment. For rental and hobby karts front brakes are optional but recommended for wet conditions. The rules of your racing series decide.

How do I bleed the karting brake system correctly?

Bleed with the caliper mounted, master cylinder at the highest point. Use only fresh DOT 4 brake fluid (never mix with DOT 5 silicone). Open the bleed nipple, pump the pedal slowly, close the nipple, release the pedal — repeat until no more air bubbles come out. Change brake fluid every 12 months.
